The Winton Centre redefined educational architecture on the Gold Coast with its vibrant, future-focused design and dynamic learning environments.
Project value has been adjusted to reflect approximate current-day value as at 2025, based upon industry recognised construction indexation published by Rawlinson.
Delivered by Alder, the project spans 4,500m² across three levels and was designed by Burling Brown Architects to reflect the colours and character of the Australian bush as well as A.B. Paterson’s strong heritage.
The ground floor features a rainforest-themed playground, three Pre-Prep classrooms, a cafe, film studio, and an Outside School Hours Care facility. The upper levels include a Years 4-6 library with curved glass walls, flexible learning spaces, a staff research hub, and a 160-seat multipurpose lecture theatre equipped with retractable seating, acoustic panels, and a sprung floor for performances and events.
Delivered within a live school environment, the project required detailed staging and stakeholder coordination to ensure minimal disruption to school operations. Complex construction elements included post-tensioned suspended slabs, soil nail installation, vibration and noise monitoring, and high-quality off-form concrete finishes.
