Project Highlights

Working adjacent to the highly trafficked Hooker Boulevard and Gold Coast Highway, Alder delivered the intersection upgrade without any traffic incidents.

Pedestrian Infrastructure

Improved safety and accessibility through the construction of a new wombat crossing and associated pedestrian infrastructure including upgrades to fencing, balustrades, signage and line marking.

Night Works

To reduce impacts on road users and maintain construction progress, asphalt resurfacing and line marking activities were undertaken outside peak traffic periods during night shifts.

Coordinated Utility Connections

Alder worked closely with Council during live water main connection works to avoid disruptions to nearby properties and businesses.

Time and Cost Savings

Alternative construction approaches were adopted to improve efficiency, including the use of precast traffic islands and constructing kerbs over existing pavement where appropriate.

Multi-Stakeholder Coordination

The project involved extensive coordination with multiple stakeholders, including TMR, G:link, City of Gold Coast, Energex, APA and neighbouring construction teams.

DTMR Compliance

All works were completed in accordance with Department of Transport and Main Roads specifications.

Upgrades to the intersection of Casino Drive and Hooker Boulevard improved safety, accessibility and traffic flow within a highly trafficked Gold Coast precinct.

A coordinated intersection upgrade introduced a new raised ‘wombat’ crossing, widened road geometry and relocated key services. The works extended to reconstruction of kerb and footpaths, installation of median islands, fencing and balustrades, and completion of asphalt, line marking and signage, supported by street lighting and utility adjustments. Delivered adjacent to a busy commercial corridor, the project required staged construction, night works and strong stakeholder coordination to minimise disruption and maintain safety.
