Through community partnerships, industry collaboration and investment in future talent, we’re proud to help shape a stronger tomorrow for everyone we work with and for.
As a locally grown business, we believe in giving back to the communities that have supported our journey.
From grassroots sponsorships to long-standing community partnerships, our contributions are guided by one goal – to help people thrive. We back sporting clubs, schools, not-for-profits and regional initiatives that align with our values of teamwork, leadership and resilience. Whether it’s providing resources, mentorship or funding, we’re here to make a meaningful difference that lasts long after the project is done.
Key community partnerships and sponsorships:
– Greg Alder
At Alder, we know the future of construction depends on the talent we nurture today.
That’s why we developed Building Blocks – a program designed to give students firsthand exposure to the many career pathways in construction, from trades to project management. Delivered across active sites throughout Queensland and Northern NSW, Building Blocks offers tailored experiences such as site tours, Try-a-Trade days and structured placements with our subcontractors. For many students, it’s their first real insight into the industry – and the spark that sets them on a career path through school-based apprenticeships and traineeships.
We’ve brought this program to life in partnership with schools like St Hilda’s, Coombabah SHS, Bracken Ridge SHS and more, adapting the experience to each cohort.
Female-led trade days, live construction walk-throughs and hands-on learning have all helped students build confidence, skills and industry awareness.
At The York, a landmark project in Beenleigh, we took this further by partnering with Beenleigh SHS and Indigenous-owned Dmac Personnel. Ten students applied their Certificate I in Construction skills across a 10-week site placement, while 13 First Nations workers were employed through Dmac – strengthening local workforce participation and capability.
We also collaborate with Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) to bring programs like Try’a Trade to our sites, allowing students to explore different trades in real construction environments. These initiatives not only help secure the industry’s future talent pipeline – they create a more inclusive, skilled and sustainable construction workforce.
Through the St Hilda’s Foundation and the Ammonite Work Grants program, we provide work experience opportunities for students exploring careers in construction and engineering.
We integrate CSQ programs to support future talent and build a stronger, more skilled workforce, offering hands-on opportunities that prepare both emerging and existing workers for the future of our industry.
As a proud sponsor, we support AWIC’s mission to empower, inspire and elevate the role of women in construction through education, connection and mentorship.
Alder is a major sponsor of the Club’s nippers programs, which promote water safety, first aid and leadership among young people.
Our future is only as strong as the people who build it. That’s why we’re committed to developing the next generation of leaders in construction and development.
From on-site learning and early-career mentoring to tailored programs like Building Blocks, we’re creating real, supported pathways into construction careers. Our cadets, apprentices and graduates don’t just observe – they contribute, learn and grow into future project leaders.
For Lucy Perry, Alder’s cadet program has provided experience she couldn’t gain in the classroom. Now in her final year of Civil Engineering at QUT, she’s spent the past year rotating through estimating, tendering, and contract administration, contributing to projects like the Springwood Ambulance Station and social housing.
“The cadetship lets you see every stage of a project and learn from experienced professionals,” Lucy says. “Alder’s supportive, hands-on approach has been amazing for my growth.”
With graduation approaching, Lucy looks forward to moving permanently on-site and building a career toward project management.
“Get on site and see it for yourself—that’s where the inspiration starts.”
– Lucy Perry, Cadet
Chloe Mack’s path to construction started with architecture, but it was the thrill of seeing designs built in real life that drew her to engineering. After hearing her friend Lucy speak highly of Alder’s cadet program, Chloe was motivated to pursue the same opportunity.
Since joining in August 2024, she has immersed herself in site work on the Dreamworld project, learning directly from experienced professionals.
“I love being on site, learning from people with different backgrounds, and watching the drawings become reality,” she says.
With graduation approaching, Chloe is eager to continue building her skills and working toward a future in project management.
“Just give it a go. Once you’re on site, you’ll see how great this industry is.”
– Chloe Mack, Cadet
