Alder has delivered the new Springwood Ambulance Station, providing a modern, purpose-built facility to support Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) crews and the growing needs of the surrounding community.
Replacing the existing station on Vanessa Boulevard, the new facility has been designed to strengthen operational capability while improving day-to-day functionality for frontline teams.
Built for the Demands of Frontline Services
The station brings together essential operational infrastructure with practical, user-focused spaces, including:
- A seven-bay plant room for Class 1 emergency vehicles
- Dedicated wash bay, storage and laundry facilities
- Training and multi-purpose rooms
- Administration, kitchen and dining areas
- Staff amenities designed for a 40-person team
- Secure on-site parking
Each element has been considered to support a high-performing, 24/7 emergency response environment, balancing durability with usability.
Delivery in a Constrained Environment
The project was delivered on a tight site, navigating overhead powerlines, restricted access and a limited footprint.
Through considered planning and sequencing — including the use of specialised crane methodology — the team maintained progress while managing complex logistics and minimising disruption.
Despite external pressures including weather impacts, supply chain delays and evolving authority requirements, a consistent, solutions-focused approach ensured the program stayed on track.
Strong Relationships, Better Outcomes
Open communication and collaboration were central to delivery. Close coordination with stakeholders and authorities — including QFES, NBN and Logan Water — enabled the team to navigate approvals and achieve operational readiness.
This approach reflects how Alder works: clear communication, strong partnerships and a focus on doing what’s required to get the job done properly.
Investing in People and Capability
The project also contributed to workforce development, supporting training initiatives and delivering over 1,700 apprentice hours across trades.
